Last August 15, 2022, Mynimo conducted a webinar in partnership with TTEC Philippines to discuss developing a career in BPO and the unique TTEC experience. The webinar’s guest speakers, Mr. David Bernal and Ms. Erika Tan talked about the company’s culture, opportunities, initial response to the pandemic, and how TTEC Philippines is embracing today’s new normal.
At the start of the webinar, Mr. Bernal, who’s worked in TTEC for 15 years, provided a sincere testament to TTEC’s culture and environment: “I wouldn’t have stayed that long if I wasn’t enjoying and having the time of my life here.” He also added that TTEC has a very engaging and highly motivating workplace, where they take pride in rewarding employees for their performance at work. TTEC also invests a lot in its community’s growth – offering thousands of free digital courses in its internal portal, TTEC Talent, where employees can manage their skills development.
Moreover, TTEC knows how to have fun, despite being in the demanding BPO industry. They conduct events — parties, concerts, contests, fun runs, charitable events, and any engaging activities the community can join to relax, destress, and connect with others. Work-life balance is important for the company.
Ms. Erika Tan discussed the job opportunities available at TTEC, saying “whether you have experience in customer service or not, we definitely have something for you. TTEC offers hundreds of opportunities for job seekers in the fields of customer service, technical support, sales, and collections.” There are also opportunities for niche roles (like healthcare and finance-related roles), as well as positions in other departments outside of operations: digital, helpdesk administration, escalations engineering, talent acquisition, and human capital. Clearly, there’s a job employment opportunity for anyone interested in developing a career in TTEC.
The guest speakers also touched on the COVID-19 pandemic which has had a huge impact when it comes to employment. Discussing the question about the company’s experience during the pandemic, Ms. Tan explained, “TTEC’s response during the start of COVID-19 is one of the things I’m very proud of. Initially, what TTEC did was to move 30% of its employees to a work-from-home setup; that’s 8,000 of the more than 24,000 TTEC employees. This plan was implemented when the 2-week quarantine period started in the country”. These changes hopefully also helped improve work-life balance during a time of high stress for most people.
She also added that whenever possible TTEC provided support to employees who couldn’t work from home, such as (1) offering a shuttle service going to TTEC sites, then back to their homes, (2) providing on-site housing to a limited number of employees with complete amenities, and (3) hotel accommodations for a selected number of employees. For added safety measures, TTEC also formed a COVID-19 task force, which supports contact tracing and monitoring of the employees who tested positive for COVID-19.
Aside from TTEC’s operations, the company also shifted its recruitment process to a more digital experience due to the pandemic. Ms. Tan mentioned in the webinar that they quickly transitioned from onsite applications to virtual recruitment. She’s so proud that they were able to conduct all interviews and assessment processes online during the height of the pandemic.
Also, Ms. Tan said the assessment exams that the applicants took were designed for mobile and tablet device users to accommodate more applicants. That way, those without personal computers could still answer the tests easily and have a shot at any TTEC job employment opportunity.
Currently, TTEC has resumed its on-site recruitment across all sites (while strictly following IATF health and safety protocols).
Almost 35% of TTEC employees are now back working on site, and TTEC ensures that their employees have a safe workplace. Mr. Bernal did a quick run-through of TTEC’s back-on-site setup: “Employees have to go to the clinic first to perform a full assessment — to make sure that they don’t have any symptoms and can report to work. On-site, we have several image collaterals reminding employees about social distancing. We also have lots of sanitizer and alcohol on site. Our break rooms also have acrylic barriers in between tables. We also test our employees who show COVID-19 symptoms.”
During the pandemic, TTEC also procured vaccinations, primary and booster shots, for its employees as early as possible to help protect their people. Clearly, their community’s health and safety are big priorities.
An amazing culture. Great career development opportunities. And a caring workplace culture. That’s the TTEC experience. Take your career to the next level by joining them now. Check TTEC’s job opportunities here: https://www.mynimo.com/employers/1947-ttec
