(L-R) Mynimo.com Marketing Manager, Fatima Dicay, and PMAP Cebu, Inc. Vice President and Regional Conference 2025 (RC25) Chairman, Gideon Kent Gil, on June 18, 2025 signed the Memorandum of Agreement, formalizing their partnership for the upcoming RC25 & 8th Visayas Summit this July.

CEBU CITY, Philippines — The People Management Association of the Philippines (PMAP) Cebu Chapter is preparing to host the largest human resources conference in the Visayas, drawing HR leaders, executives, and business professionals from across the region. The 25th Regional Conference (RC25) and 8th Visayas Summit will be held on July 24–25, 2025, at NuStar Resort & Casino in Cebu City.

With the theme “Deconstructing People Management,” this year’s conference promises a reexamination of traditional HR practices in an era shaped by digital transformation, evolving workplace values, and shifting employee expectations. Attendees will explore timely and relevant topics such as job redesign, performance-based compensation strategies, and talent retention amid growing workforce restiveness.

Cebu’s job website and long-standing PMAP Cebu partner, Mynimo.com, has renewed its collaboration with the organization through a formal Memorandum of Agreement signed earlier this month. The partnership reinforces their shared commitment to advancing human resource development in the Visayas.

“We are excited to partner with PMAP Cebu for their 25th Regional Conference and 8th Visayas Summit,” said Fatima Dicay, Marketing Manager of Mynimo.com. “Our involvement supports both talent connection and the professional growth of HR practitioners in the Visayas. We believe that ‘Deconstructing People Management’ will inspire innovative and adaptive HR strategies.”

As part of the agreement, Mynimo will help promote the event to over 124,000 HR professionals and companies subscribed to its services, providing a wide platform for visibility and outreach.

Notable speakers at the event include RCBC President and CEO Eugene S. Acevedo, who will deliver the opening keynote, and ASEAMETRICS CEO Liza Manalo-Mapagu, who will share insights on enabling ultra-smart HR teams—a timely and strategic topic as organizations increasingly rely on digital tools and analytics to drive people management decisions.

This renewed partnership between PMAP Cebu and Mynimo reflects a shared vision: to equip today’s HR leaders with forward-thinking solutions that address the evolving demands of the workforce and workplace.

Rethinking the Foundations of HR

Speaking on this year’s theme, “Deconstructing People Management,” Gideon Kent Gil, PMAP Cebu, Inc. Vice President and Regional Conference 2025 (RC25) Chairman, explained that the goal is to challenge long-held assumptions in HR by breaking down traditional models to better understand their foundations. “This isn’t about tearing down established practices,” he said, “but about understanding their component parts.”

He emphasized that many common HR practices—such as performance reviews, compensation structures, and hiring systems—may no longer serve the evolving needs of today’s workforce. “Often, broad HR principles are applied universally. Deconstruction aims to reveal the nuances, complexities, and context-specific factors that might make a particular approach effective in one scenario but counterproductive in another,” he added.

Addressing Today’s Talent Challenges

Gil also pointed to the growing challenges faced by HR professionals, including talent shortages, high employee turnover, and increasing expectations around compensation and benefits.

“In a highly competitive job market, finding and securing qualified candidates is a persistent struggle,” he said. This challenge is intensified by evolving skill demands and industry-specific talent gaps.

Turnover, he added, remains a costly issue for many organizations. As a result, HR teams are placing more emphasis on employee engagement, career development, and work-life balance. “Meeting employee expectations for fair and competitive salaries and comprehensive benefits packages is crucial, especially amid inflation and rising costs,” he said.

The RC25 conference aims to respond to these issues by providing a platform for actionable learning and strategy development. “Through its focus on learning and action plan implementation, it aims to equip practitioners with the knowledge, skills, and strategies needed to navigate the complexities of the modern workplace,” Gil noted.

A Shift in Format and Perspective

This year’s conference will introduce a new Fireside Chat format designed to spark open-ended conversations on complex, often under-discussed people management issues. According to Gil, this more introspective and forward-thinking structure encourages dialogue that goes beyond surface-level best practices.

“The 2025 PMAP RC Conference, with its ‘Deconstructing People Management’ theme and Fireside Chat format, represents a more candid and future-facing approach to HR and organizational leadership,” he said. “It moves beyond navigating challenges to actively questioning and reshaping the foundations of how work is managed in the modern era.”

In addition to its robust lineup of thought leaders, the conference will feature significant raffle prizes—including a motorcycle and an international trip—adding an element of excitement for attendees.

For HR and Beyond

While designed with HR professionals in mind, the event also extends its value to business leaders and entrepreneurs across industries. Topics related to organizational culture, talent retention, and employee engagement make the conference highly relevant for leadership teams focused on long-term workforce strategy.

With 14 sessions planned over two days, the event promises to deliver practical insights backed by research and firsthand experience. “The conference brings together industry experts and seasoned practitioners who will share real-world strategies and diverse perspectives on today’s HR challenges,” said Gil.

With over two decades of regional conferences, PMAP Cebu remains a leading advocate for people-centered leadership and ethical HR practices in the Visayas.
