HUMAN RESOURCES (HR) GENERALIST

The HR Generalist will be the person in charge for all aspects of Human Resources in Cebu Cardinal Bakeshop to develop a high-performing, reliable, and productive workforce.

Primary Responsibilities

Develop and maintain a capable and functioning HR department
- HR Department to be capable of providing all company HR needs;
- Team size matches company size by being effective and efficient
Provide strategic direction and advice
- Understand local and relevant rules, and advise senior management;
- Consider the best interest of Cebu Cardinal Bakeshop within the existing legislation, in the first;
- Advise the workforce position and opinion for the purpose of full disclosure;
Recruitment and termination
- Conduct appropriate interviews to ensure the correct people are hired
- Meaningful reference checks are conducted – both formal and network based
- Develop and execute recruitment strategies to achieve the capability development plan
- Establish multiple recruitment channels
- Identify staff vacancies and recruit, interview and select applicants with operations management
- Develop, administer and evaluate applicant tests.
Policy
- Establish and monitor internal controls and procedures as defined by a developed HR policy
- Implement and ensure adherence to HR policy
- Advise managers on organizational policy matters such as equal employment opportunity and sexual harassment, and recommend needed changes
Organizational structure
- Oversee the evaluation, classification and rating of occupations and job positions
- Advise on organization structure as the business grows
- Manage the phasing of expatriate and local workforce
- Work with operations management to project employment needs
- Establish and maintain a succession plan
- Advise on mix of direct employee / sub-contractor resources
Compensation & benefits
- Analyze and recommend compensation and benefits policies to establish competitive programs and ensure compliance with legal requirements
- Ensure payroll processing is completed accurately and on time
Employee Development and Performance Management
- Oversee the implementation of employee development plans (100% of employees)
- Implement and sustain performance management plans for all employees
- Perform difficult staffing duties, including dealing with understaffing, refereeing disputes and administering disciplinary procedures
- Conduct exit interviews to identify reasons for employee termination
Training
- Plan and conduct new employee inductions
- Oversee and implement training programs to achieve the capability development plan
- Evaluate training to establish effectiveness
- Analyze training needs to design employee development, language training and health and safety programs
Employee relations
- Serve as a link between management and employees by handling questions, interpreting and administering contracts and helping resolve work-related problems
- Run regular meetings and ensure intent of the role is met
- Provide current and prospective employees with information about policies, job duties, working conditions, wages, opportunities for promotion and employee benefits

COMPETENCIES REQUIRED

QUALIFICATIONS

Human Resources Degree (at least 4 years)
Specific specialty training in relevant disciplines within the HR field

TECHNICAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

A minimum of 2 years’ experience working a generalist role in an HR team, preferably in the hospitality industry.
Direct experience in the key areas of responsibility.
Highly PC literate – Word, Excel
Proven project management skills (scheduling, resource management etc.)
Strong business acumen
Ability to lead and act as part of a team
