Who are we?

Arcanys, a software development outsourcing company, is an awe-inspiring synergy of Swiss entrepreneurial expertise and remarkable Filipino technological acumen. With its headquarters in the thriving Asian metropolis Cebu City, it is officially headed by a team of successful serial entrepreneurs and mainly comprised of extraordinarily skilled Filipino professionals. Armed with an already diverse business portfolio, the company specializes in developing high-quality software applications and platforms for a globally diverse clientele—from startups to established businesses—with a strong focus on innovation.

Since its inception, Arcanys has been continuously evolving from a conventional software development company into a multidisciplinary outsourcing provider. Thus, we are consistently looking for not only tech experts that develop high-quality software applications and platforms but also highly trained versatile professionals with a diverse list of competencies. Join us as an: Investment Associate

This is a global position, which can be handled from home at 100%. There is a preference for people living in the countries where we have entities (Philippines, Hong Kong, Bulgaria), or regions where we invest (Europe/Australia) but we shall consider qualified applicants from all countries.

We’re looking for a reformed law graduate that has switched his/her career to the investment/venture capital industry.

In this role, you'll get to fill two roles within our group:

  • Investment associate: Arcanys Ventures (AV) is currently investing in 5 to 10 companies per year. This is a critical area of growth for our business and we can expect a higher number in the coming years. There is a need to:

    • Maintain and develop relationships with seed funds, VC funds, accelerators and other venture organizations, where AV comes as a co-investor.

    • Help with screening and discussions with candidate startups for investment

    • Help with due diligence

    • Link portfolio companies with relevant investors

    • We estimate the investment associate role should keep you busy 75-80% of the time (30-32 hours/week).

  • Part-time legal counsel: you may not enjoy this part as much (since you’ve switched your career focus), but it is a really important role that we need covered, that only warrants someone’s involvement part-time. In this role, you would:

    • Help review legal contracts related to employees (focus only on templates and not handle the actual preparation of all employment contracts), agreements with consulting clients, investments agreements, convertible notes, etc.

    • Liaise with country specific counsel

    • We estimate this workload at about 8-10 hours/week

What you'll need to suceed:

  • Major in Law. There is no need for country specific law qualification because we need you to handle matters in all the countries we operate and invest.

  • 2-4 years experience in an accelerator, seed fund or venture capital firm, preferably at the seed / Series A stage.

  • Excellent written and spoken English skills

  • With good problem solving skills and self-driven (we are a pretty flat company and do not believe in micromanagement).

  • Work experience in multiple countries is an advantage

The Perks:

We like to make sure the talent is well taken cared of, and here are just some of the benefits you will enjoy:

  • Top compensation based on expertise – we are only looking for top talent and pay accordingly.

  • Flexible working schedule. You can choose your working hours (within reason).

  • Flat management style and open-door policy - no micromanagement and your voice is being heard!

  • Enrolment to HMO for a maximum of 3 immediate dependents on your 1st day.

  • Incentive-based wellness program.

  • Toastmasters, Wednesday Classes, and other learning opportunities.
