STATEMENT OF PURPOSE (A brief description of why the job exists and what is expected of it to achieve)
A Warehouse and Logistics Supervisor essentially oversees the shipping and delivery of vehicles and warehouse personnel.
Mainly work in warehouse settings and are involved in managing the unloading of vehicles during devanning and setting up delivery routes.
Also manage inventory and maintain communications with carriers, suppliers, warehouses and others involved in the shipping and delivery of vehicles.
KEY CHALLENGES (Most challenging and complex aspect of the job)
Schedule Shipments and Deliveries.
A Warehouse and Logistics main responsibility is to oversee the transportation of vehicles from one location to another, such as from unloading of vehicles after devanning to warehouses.
To do so, they will arrange vehicle pull-outs and deliveries and route drivers accordingly. Typically conduct a cost analysis in order to select one that is cost-efficient. Build Relationships with Suppliers It is up to the Warehouse and Logistics Supervisor to communicate with trucking companies, logistics team, sales forces and customers.
They must ensure that all parties are working together to guarantee that shipments are packed, sent and delivered in a timely manner. Maintain Warehouse Inventory A Warehouse and Logistics Supervisor will study client or customer needs and manage inventory based on these needs.
This often includes analysing vehicle inventory on-hand (net for sales), incoming orders and units with suppliers to research the need for keeping certain items in stock and to maintain sufficient inventory levels.
Manage and coordinate staffing and operational activities for warehouses and other storage facilities.
Participate in the development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies, and priorities of the organization.
Direct and review work plan for assigned staff.
Provide assistance in warehouse space utilization by designing facility layouts to achieve maximum storage efficiency.
Maintain accurate records and files of inventory usage.
Meet with staff to identify and resolve problems.
Implement discipline procedures.
Prepare and present staff reports and other correspondence as appropriate and necessary.
Assist with budget preparation and administration.
Education and Training: Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, business, or industrial engineering.
Decision Making: Good decision making skills to be able to consider the relative cost and benefits of potential actions to decide on the best one.
Communication Skill: Have excellent communication skill ( both written and verbal) to effectively negotiate with suppliers and customers.
Complex Problem Solving: Should have the ability to identify complex problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solution.
