DESIGN MANAGER
 
Salary range: PHP50,000 to PHP65,000 PLUS performance bonus.
 
The Design Manager works to improve the quality of our design service, grows the team of high-performing book designers and illustrators who love working for Tellwell, all while improving process efficiency and growing earned revenue for the business unit.

What you’ll be doing:
 
Responsibilities:
Lead and manage a team of high-performing designers and illustrators.
Manage productivity & financial targets while improving our process efficiency.
Achieve client satisfaction by promoting quality standards for book design.
Actively researches and stays on top of current publishing industry trends in cover design, interior book layouts and illustration work.
Manage and design productive team meetings.
Provide input and guidance to all Tellwell staff for any design-related inquiries.
Take team escalations via phone & email.
Other duties as assigned by top management.
What skills are we looking for?
 
Skills:
 
Technical Proficiency
Adobe Creative Suite: 10/10 skill level in InDesign and Photoshop, proficient in Illustrator and Acrobat Pro
High-level of proficiency with paragraph and character styles, master pages, frames, GREP, and more
Experience working with large, multi-page documents, ability to “place” text and properly import and format images for print and ebooks
Exceptional computer literacy, tech savvy, masters new software, workflows and processes quickly.
Experience in HTML and eBook design
Design Trends & Principles
Understands key design principles, how to create enticing covers specific to each books' genre and content
Keen interest in the book design industry, including a strong knowledge of past and present design trends
Effective use of Typography, again appropriate to each books' genre and content
Creativity & Initiative
Discovers new opportunities and solutions for problems by looking beyond current practices and using innovative thinking.
Self-directed, resourceful, and high-performing. Learns new skills, gains new knowledge and creates new ideas and methods.
Communication
Shares information with coworkers and clients in fluent English and Cebuano/Tagalog where appropriate, in an effective, timely, clear, concise, logical and organized manner.
Represents the design department to the rest of the company.
