DEVOPS ENGINEER (Server Technology)
 
Requirements
Graduate of bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or any IT/Engineering related course
Knowledgeable in implementing and supporting server hardware and software.
Has at least 5 years experience implementing and supporting system infrastructure, machine enablement, and procurement.
At least 5 years of experience with database technologies
At least 2 years of hands-on AWS experience, as well as some time spent working with relational and non-relational databases
Understands the current application infrastructure and suggest changes to it.
Has acquired associate or higher certification in AWS
Knowledgeable with AWS best practices and trends and be able to provide sound advice on server configuration for projects
Familiar with serverless technologies
Able to write JavaScript or TypeScript
Experience with ReactJS or VueJS is a plus
Able to define and document best practices and strategies regarding application deployment and infrastructure maintenance.
Set up a monitoring stack.
Define service capacity planning strategies.
Good background in Linux/Unix administration.
Experience with Docker and Kubernetes. Having used {{ECS or EKS, or whichever technologies you are looking to use}} in the past is a plus.
Strong notions of security best practices (e.g., using IAM Roles, KMS, etc.).
Experience with monitoring solutions such as CloudWatch, Prometheus, and the ELK stack.
Ability to troubleshoot distributed systems
Responsibilities
Installs and maintains servers and enterprise storage, including related software and hardware
Maintains security of servers and storage by implementing proper security software and settings, updates, and other appropriate security measures
Performs systems administration functions such as managing user accounts and profiles, and maintaining hardware and software inventory and licenses
Monitors server and storage health and performance; remediate issues detrimental to the health or performance of systems
Identifies recurring hardware and software problems and recommends plans for prevention and resolution
Ensures data security and availability through proper backup and verification procedures
Research and tests new and emerging server and storage technologies. Ensure future infrastructure capacity through recommendations to the Coordinator of Technical Services
Supports user requests for administrative systems
Advocates information technology security “best practices”; ensure systems conform to SGSC/ USG security standards
Other duties as assigned
