STAFF ACCOUNTANT
 
The Staff Accountant is tasked to maintain a general ledger of financial transactions by establishing accounts, posting transactions, and ensure legal requirements compliance. This role is also responsible for assisting the management of day-to-day accounting and finance requirements.
 
This role will be working closely with the accounting team to create and analyze financial reports and ensure legal requirements compliance, process accounts payable and receivable and manage invoices and tax payments.
 
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Bookkeeping and maintaining the integrity of the general ledger accounts
    • Check and maintain accuracy of supplier invoices with respect to expected pricing and management  authorization
    • Accurately maintain general ledger by transferring subsidiary account summaries and intercompany transactions and balances
    • Balances general ledger by preparing a trial balance and reconciling entries
    • Manage payroll tax and other compliance requirements and ensure accurate and timely submission before due date
    • Maintain required company certifications and compliance
    • Maintain subsidiary accounts by verifying, allocating, and posting transactions
    • Secure and update sensitive financial data
    • Develop system to account for financial transactions by establishing a chart of accounts; defining bookkeeping policies and procedures
  • Process and record all business transactions
    • Processing accounts payable and receivable
    • Processing expense invoices
    • Follow up outstanding accounts for and from RISE/Synacy clients in a timely and efficient manner
    • File taxation reports with BIR and PEZA as prescribed by law
    • Perform bank reconciliation and cash flow analysis on a regular basis
    • Allocating business expenditures to cost centers
    • Track hours and/or costs on projects
    • Maintains historical records by filing documents.
    • Prepares financial reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and trends
  • Analyze accounting data for financial reporting, forecasting and compliance
    • Production of bi-weekly  reports
    • Managing month end P&L statements
    • Assist in the preparation of quarterly and year-end closing reports
    • Complies with local and national laws by studying requirements, enforcing adherence to requirements, and filing reports
    • Processing  paperwork as requested by management
  • Perform ad-hoc duties as needed
    • Recommend improvements to optimize existing accounting systems and processes
    • Undertake any other specific duties as the Financial Manager / Lead Accountant may deem fit
    • Perform general administrative duties as needed
Qualifications:
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Bookkeeping or a similar role
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or other business-related programs
  • Solid understanding of basic bookkeeping and accounting payable/receivable principles
  • Proven ability to calculate, post and manage accounting figures and financial records
  • Data entry skills along with a knack for numbers
  • Hands-on experience with spreadsheets and proprietary software
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Highly proficient in computer applications (e.g. Google Suites, MS Office)
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent mathematical and problem-solving skills
  • Proven ability to work well with others
  • Able to prioritize work efficiently under tight deadlines
Preferred:
  • Experience in bank reconciliation, journal entry, financial reporting, taxation, etc.
  • Experience in Payroll highly preferred but not required
  • Demonstrable knowledge in IFRS, PFRS, and ERP financial systems
  • Familiar and updated with legal policies, procedures and standards
  • CPAs and/or CMAs title holder preferred but not required
